Gerardo Lozano Alarcón is a partner in the international arbitration, maritime law and finance practice group at DLA Piper, based in Mexico City. Gerardo has plenty of experience in international arbitration, in many jurisdictions in a broad range of matters and sectors; including energy, insurance, maritime, and consumer products.

Gerardo has represented clients in arbitration proceedings and has been appointed as president and co-arbitrator of arbitral tribunals for ad hoc arbitrations, arbitrations under the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) the Cámara Nacional de Comercio de la Ciudad de México (“CANACO”), the Centro de Arbitraje de México (“CAM”), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”), Chapter XI of the North American Free Trade Agreement (“NAFTA”) and the Rules for Arbitration of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”). Furthermore, he has represented clients in arbitrations before the Society of Maritime Arbitrators (“SMA”). Gerardo Lozano has acted as arbitrator and legal counsel in more than thirty-five arbitrations. As part of his experience in investor/state arbitration, it is to note his participation as arbitrator during 2014- 2015 in an arbitral tribunal that acted on a complex case between a US company and the United Mexican States.
